Did you see that they were talking about autism on Dr. Oz?" Many well meaning people asked me that in the few days following the show. But the reality of it all is that just like on most other shows and in the media....there was really nothing new discussed. One side says "vaccines play a role", the other side says "they don't." Then, you've got Autism Speaks that declines to comment. WHAT? Aren't they the biggest autism charity out there? HOW do you decline to comment? EVEN.....if it is something generic like "we need more research!" I just don't get it. What is Autism Speaks doing with all of this money that is being raised? What are they doing for families of children with Autism? Incidentally, early on they "merged" with CAN (Cure Autism Now). CAN was predominantly a "biomedical" charity focused on treatments and recovery. Boy, they got gobbled up and lost their vision, huh? Continuing the vaccine autism debate in the media is truly a moot point until they decide to do the only study that will really tell us if there is any kind of connection. A vaccinated vs. unvaccinated study. What are we waiting for? Or, is it that we don't really want the truth?
